SUBSTANCE ABUSE PROGRAM

The substance abuse program is designed to aid clients in making the transition in their recovery from a highly supervised environment, usually prison, to independent living in the community. Community Transition Center is designed to aid the individual in utilizing self-management skills within the community.

All clients will be required to attend a therapy group that meets once a day for two hours. This therapy group is facilitated by a chemical dependency counselor or a licensed social worker certified by the State of Ohio. The groups focus on identifying the meaning of recovery for the individual within the community, defining and establishing an active program of recovery, and developing a relapse prevention program.

THINKING FOR A CHANGE

Thinking for a Change (T4C) is an integrated, cognitive behavior change program for offenders that includes cognitive restructuring, social skills development, and development of problem solving skills. This service is beneficial to those offenders that do not have alcohol or drug related crimes or issues. All clients will be required to attend group that meets once a day for two hours.

ANGER MANAGEMENT PROGRAM

The anger management program is a comprehensive anger related program aimed at addressing the needs of individuals that have either been convicted of assault, domestic violence, or have anger related issues that have caused them legal, social, or vocational complications.

This program also recognizes the high acceleration between substance abuse and their behaviors, therefore treats them on a hierarchy of care. Once admitted to the anger management program, they will participate in an educational based program with an emphasis on change and personal responsibility. Didactic lecture and video presentations, followed by group discussions focus on various options to assist the clients in dealing with their specific needs.

JOB READINESS PROGRAM

The job readiness program is a mandatory program designed to help the clients with a variety of vocational needs. The program is a two-hour group presentation with the focus on what employers in the community will expect. Community Transition Center staff can assist clients through job seeking techniques, mock interviews, and assistance with preparation of resumes and application procedures.

FINANCIAL PLANNING PROGRAM

The financial Planning Program is designed to assist those clients that either have no experience with financial matters or have past failures in this area. The sessions include developing realistic monthly budgets and opening a checking and/or savings account. Other topics include opening utility accounts and other vital needs to becoming self-sufficient.

PARENTING CLASSES

Community Transition Center offers parenting classes for those clients that are court ordered to attend, have children, or plans to have children. These classes focus on communicating with children, positive discipline, and quality activities.

RECREATION & LEISURE TIME ACTIVITIES

While at Community Transition Center, clients will have the opportunity to experience leisure time and spend recreational time engaged in activities that are conducive to a positive outcome to avoid previous behavior patterns.

Activities include bowling, baseball, basketball, movies, and other activities deemed appropriate by the Director. All activities will be under the full-time supervision of a staff member of Community Transition Center. Clients will be made aware of positive lifestyle changes that will assistthem in both the physical and mental areas of their lives.

PROGRESSIVE PRIVILEGES AND DISCIPLINE

Each client will be required to move through the phases of the program. Clients will be rewarded and earn extra privileges as they progress through the various phases of the program. We therefore encourage clients to strive for better things, to better themselves, and thereby successfully complete the program.

Discipline is based on a case-by-case basis. Minor violations are given in-house sanctions that can range from loss of privileges to demotion of phases. Major violations will result in the notification of the supervising authority. CTC will give in-house sanctions as well as enforce any sanctions given by the supervising authority.
